One of the most graphically stunning and recognizable flags is certainly the Canadian Maple Leaf. But most people would be surprised to discover that this flag has only flown over Canada a relatively brief time.
Many people think that a logo is a brand and vice versa. A logo or identity is just a small part of the overall branding of your business or product. It’s often the most recognizable device used to communicate with target audiences; this sometimes means that a logo is often the only element that a lot of businesses concentrate on when rebranding.
First off - let me be blunt. Good marketing can’t make up for a shit product or lousy service!
Don’t get me wrong, a well thought out and implemented marketing strategy can be an incredible way to grow your business.
But first you need 2 things to make your business succeed:
A great product or service; and
Awesome employees so that every contact with the public is incredible.
Without these 2 essential elements, you are just putting that old fish in a fresh piece of paper. It will still stink.
Note: We base our unusual, yet extremely successful approach to marketing small businesses on an 8-step plan. It doesn’t matter if you are a 40 year old business with 100 employees or an Etsy shop that you run out of your spare bedroom - the steps and method is the same. Over the next 8 weeks, we are going to post each of these eight steps in order right here. We hope you find this information helpful as you develop your own strategy to grow your business.
Before you can properly engage in developing a plan, you to ask yourself some tough questions: What is your current marketing plan? What are you spending annually on marketing? What are your logo and colors? Are they identifiable? How do you market to your existing customers? Is your website maintained in-house, or is out-dated and unusable? What about Social Media, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter? Do you post specials and video or pictures promoting your business? Do your best customers, family and friends share your company’s accomplishments?
